Biosafety Level

Biosafety Level – Type A2

In our Type A2 MSC air is drawn in through the front aperture, providing operator protection.

The inflow air mixes with the downflow air as it enters the front intake grille and passes through the plenum where the air is split into exhaust systems. 70% of the air is recycled and pushed back into the Work Area through the downflow HEPA Filtration.

The remaining 30% is returned through the Exhaust Air HEPA Filter back into the laboratory environment.

Biosafety Level – Type C1

If chemicals are used in a Recirculating Type A2 MSC and utilising the same airflow pattern across the work surface, a Carbon Filtered Exhaust system may be installed after or as part of the Exhaust HEPA Filter, converting the unit to Type C1 MSC, suitable for the handling of hazardous chemicals.

COVID-19 Testing

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommend that a Class 2 Cabinet BSC should be used any time a procedure has the potential to generate aerosols or droplets as a result of pipetting or centrifugation, making out Guardian units the perfect choice for handling COVID-19 samples.

All customers with COVID-19 related applications will be prioritised as our team focus 80% of our in-house capacity on the production of Class I and Class II Biological Safety Cabinets.

We currently have good stock levels of both cabinets and are able to fast-track installation having recently completed an order from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, for three Class II Biological Safety Cabinets. In just three working days from receipt of order, our team had the units installed and able to assist the brilliant NHS staff with their COVID-19 testing.
