Service Engineer

  • Territory: UK Northern | Newcastle + Carlisle
  • Reporting To: Service Department Manager
  • Holiday: 25 days per full calendar year, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays

Summary Of Duties

  • To gain a thorough technical understanding of our full range of products and their respective servicing requirements, in line with the latest British Standards, including legal (digital) Service paperwork completion 
  • To drive nationwide, predominantly London and surrounding area, to represent Monmouth face to face with our Customers in a professional, well-presented and courteous manner (overnight hotel stays fully expensed) 
  • To deliver, install, commission, service and maintain our wide range of laboratory equipment and clean areas at Customer premises 
  • To provide Customer support and training during delivery, commissioning & installation of new products 
  • To deal with Customer enquiries, and when necessary complaints, when in the field, and report objectively on Customer satisfaction as and when required 
  • To undergo ongoing product and application training, both internal and external, to maintain individual skills and keep up-to-date with the latest production and servicing concepts 
  • To undertake adhoc duties, tasks or activities required or deemed necessary, as we may reasonably expect 
  • To adhere to all Health & Safety policies & procedures issued by the Company at all times 

Key Responsibilities

  • Installations
    • Working alongside other Monmouth team members and our delivery partner in the construction and installation of cleanrooms, cabinets, benches and other products.
  • Commissioning
    • To ensure new Monmouth delivered product is installed correctly and conforms to the relevant standards when. Cabinets are generally delivered and positioned by our delivery partner ready for the commissioning process
  • Servicing
    • To carry out servicing on a wide range of Monmouth and other brands of cabinets and facilities, ensuring that the products are safe to use and conform to the relevant standards
  • Maintenance
    • To carry out breakdown and routine maintenance of Monmouth and other brands of cabinets and facilities, identifying what parts, filters and/or personnel are needed to repair and revalidate the equipment
  • Training
    • Explaining to the customer the installed cabinets to allow them to get the most out of the product as well as understanding how to carry out the relevant maintenance needed between services
  • Documentation
    • Ensuring all site documentation is completed in a timely manner for review and forwarding to the customer.
    • Completing service department paperwork in a timely manner
  • Assisting where necessary with any other adhoc duties, tasks and general Company activities required or deemed necessary.

Essential Key Skills & Personal Specification (including but not limited to)

  • Excellent attention to detail, logical problem-solving skills, and a practical ‘adapt and overcome’ attitude
  • High personal standards and a ‘driven’ approach to work, willing to accept responsibility 
  • Ability to follow processes and quality-controlled standards of work, in line with Company procedures 
  • Proficient organisational and workload management skills 
  • Ability to work flexibly and re-prioritise as required, to meet a continuously-changing delivery schedule 
  • Calm disposition under pressure, able to make effective decisions and work to tight deadlines 
  • Personable nature, with effective communication and listening skills, able to liaise confidently with staff and Customers at all levels 
  • Tact and diplomacy when on site, with the ability to deal with multiple Customer queries at once 
  • GCSE (or equivalent) Grade “C” in English Language and Mathematics 

Essential / Desirable Skills

  • Essential
    • Industry-related service & installation experience
    • Competency in electrical skills (17th/18th Edition, Apprenticeship qualified, desirable)
  • Desirable
    • CSCS Card, IPAF qualified for Cherry Picker & Boom Lift
